Last Minute Costume Tip!

Cute, bewitching costumes start with skin-tested Glue Dots®Adhesive Products.

Attach small rhinestones to the skin with Mini Glue Dots® and medium-sized gems using Craft Glue Dots®.

Before applying rhinestones, make sure the skin is clean and dry. Then, apply Glue Dots® to the rhinestones and rhinestones to the skin.

To remove, use warm water and a mild soap. Glue Dots® adhesives may have a tendency to come off skin in hot, humid climates or in instances of significant perspiration.

Happy Haunting!

Halloween Invitation Ideas

Horror Movie Night Invitation Instructions from Designer Nancy Rykiel:

Black Cardstock to start.

I used a Kraft Ticket (Maya Road), and put a Jolee’s Werewolf sticker to the ticket and covered it with large negative strip, and slid into a Maya Road Kraft envelope.
I used Tim Holtz Film Strip Ribbon across the envelope along with several Jolee’s Stickers.

I also used the Jolee’s Stickers for the Witch’s hat, and broom, and the bloody knife over the Filmstrip Ribbon.

I then sprayed Glitter mist from Tattered Angels to add shimmer.

I also used a rubon to put “Just Chillin’” at the bottom and lettered around it with red pen.

I cut the feet off of another witch sticker and cut off part of a swirl from Zva Crystals for bling.

Halloween Card Ideas

Supplies:

Pattern Paper: Lost & Found (My Mind’s Eye) Ribbon: Lost & Found (My Mind’s Eye) Dies Cuts: Label and Skull - jamielanedesigns Font: Edwardian Script ITC Ink: Charcoal and Chestnut Roan (Cat’s Eye Chalk Ink)
Adhesive: 1/2” Craft Glue Dots®
Jewels – Black (Zva Creative)

So where is the svg file you ask?! You can get the Skull SVG HERE, the Tombstone SVG HERE or the combined SCAL file HERE

Card Instructions:

• Using black cardstock trim to 5 ½” x 8” and fold in half to form a 5 ½” x 4” Card.

• Trim mat from pattern paper to 5 ¼” x 3 ¾”. Distress the edges and add charcoal ink. Adhere to the card base using ½” Craft Glue Dots, centering.

• Trim two tombstone shapes, making one slightly larger than the other and add charcoal ink around the edges. Using the ½” Craft Glue Dots adhere both pieces to the card mat, centering toward the top of the card.

• Add black glitter to the skull die cut behind the eyes and nose and attach skull to the tombstone, again centering toward the top as shown in the photo.

• Trim a 3” x 1” strip of pattern paper and add sentiment. Distress edges and ink with chestnut roan ink. Attach to the bottom of the card using the ½” Craft Glue Dots.

• Tie the Baker’s twine around the tombstone and decorate with jewels.

Project and Photo Credit: Jamie Cripps

Halloween Ideas for Kids

Halloween Kid Crafts!

B and I decided it was time to do some simple Halloween crafts this week and I thought I’d share them with you as they are easy to replicate with common craft supplies and a willing child of about this age.

Project 1: Boo!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - 3 sheets (8.5x11 is fine)
Glue Dots® Glue Lines
Pencil
Safety Scissors
Embellishments of your choice (See project 2 and 3).
Template —- See below

Instructions:
1. Pick a word of your choice. We chose “Boo” but you might want a word with less round letters for easy cutting. We used SEI large chipboard letters I got in a kit a few years ago as our template. We worked together to trace around the letters onto our patterned paper. Alternatively, you could print out large letters to trace or print them directly onto the patterned paper saving a step.

2. Cut around the outside and inside lines with safety scissors.

3. Embellish using glitter, google eyes, stickers, or other items from your craft stash. Alternatively, see project 2 and 3 for another craft idea to dress up your letters.

4. Adhere to the child’s door using the Glue Lines and enjoy!

Project 2: Sparkly Spider - I like sparkly not spooky spiders so our first embellishment was shiny!

Supplies:

Four silver pipe cleaners
Glue Dots® Craft Dots
Safety Scissors

Optional:
2 Tiny googly eyes
Mini-Glue Dots®

Instructions:

1. Cut two pipe cleaners into quarters.

2. Cut the third pipe cleaner in half.

3. Wrap the remaining pipe cleaner in a spiral shape to create a circle about one inch in diameter.

3. Add Craft two Craft Dots to each side of the circle and lay each of the four short pipe cleaner pieces across the dots to form eight legs.

4. Bend the tips of each “leg” down a bit.

5. Add a fifth Craft Dot to the spider to attach the remaining half a pipe cleaner which will form a strand to connect the spider to the word you’ve created. (This is optional as you can just use the spider as is).

6. Optional: use 2 tiny Glue Dots to attach googly eyes to your spider.

Project 3: Paper Spider - This was my Mom’s take on the spider concept— very cute.

Supplies:
Left over patterned paper
Glue Dots® Craft Dots
Safety Scissors
Googly Eyes
Cord

Instructions: This is very similar to the above, but with paper rather than pipe cleaners.

1. Let the child cut strips of paper from the left over scraps of Project 1.

2. Cut a small mouth out of the remaining scraps.

3. Trace and cut out a 1-2 inch circle for the body of the Spider.

4. Attach googly eyes and mouth using Craft Dots.

5. Work together to attach each leg to the body using the Craft Dots or Mini-Glue dots and bend down the ends of the legs as with the Sparkly Spider.

6. Attach string or cord with Craft Dots and hang from your word.

These projects are very simple and straightforward intentionally. They work with what is capable of a small child around age 2-4 in terms of dexterity and the length of time they can focus. They are designed to use common craft supplies so they can be done quickly at minimal expense. I also didn’t try to force his choice of where to put the spider or overly style the end result as I want it to still be his work and his project. I think it was one that we all enjoyed and I smile each time I walk by.

Project and Photo Credit- Abbey Richards
Decorate Pumpkins with Glue Dots!

Use any of the Glue Dots® product assortment to decorate pumpkins without the mess for Halloween.

We used glitter papers, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and false eye lashes!

We even used a bit of mascara to ensure our pumpkin’s lashes were very pretty!

A Toasty Halloween Treat

These cupcakes are not only that but they will keep your feet warm!

Supplies Needed:

1 pair ladies or childrens socks in halloween colors (I chose black)
1 sheet or cardstock or patterned paper(I chose Bo-Bunny’s Boo Crew)
Glue Dots
Sparkly Fluff by Our Craft Lounge
Scallop Circle Punch by EK Success for Stampin’ Up
Gussetted Treat Bag
Rubberband
Metal Rimmed tag
Charcoal Cat Eye by ColorBox
Halloween Stamp by Li’l Davis Designs
Misc. Ribbon

First fold your sock in half. This folded edge will be the top of your cupcake, the frosting. Then roll the sock starting at the cuff of the sock going towards the toe. Once you have finished rolling place your rubberband on the bottom half to hold the sock in place. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get a great result the first time. It takes my several tries before I get the look I desire. Set this aside while you work on your cupcake liner

I have programmed into my Pazzles Inspiration my pattern for the cupcake liner so I cut mine out using that. If you are interested and have a Pazzles inspiration please let me know and I will e-mail you my pattern. If you don’t you can also find a pattern at http://www.skiptomylou.org/ or use a cupcake liner from your kitchen cupboard. If you are doing childrens socks…depending on the size you may need to use a mini liner.
I use Craft and Mini Glue Dots and place them randomly on my cupcake liner and then cover them with Sparkly Fluff to add a little dimension and texture to my project.
Then I use Memory Glue Dots to assemble my cupcake liner. I chose memory because they are ultra thin and don’t add any bulk.
After I have assembled my liner I place my sock cupcake inside and put it into a gusseted treat bag. I tie the bag shut with a simple piece of ribbon and create a tag using coordinating paper punched with scallop circle punch and a metal rimmed rectangle tag stamped with a spider.
Photo and Project Credit: Sarah Bucek
Trick or Treat Cigar Box

Grapevine Wreath (I used a small size but use any size you want)

Black Paint (preferably spray paint)

Craft Glue Dots®

Plastic Spiders

Ribbon

Scissors

The Goods

Begin by spray painting the wreath black. Be sure to get in all the crevices and paint both sides. Allow the wreath to dry thoroughly before attaching the spiders.

Starting to get Creepy
Attach the spiders to the wreath using Glue Dots®. It looks best to attach them in random directions rather than all in one direction. Be sure to leave a gap where you can later attach the ribbon (if you choose to attach a ribbon for hanging.)
Demonstrating!
Connect the ribbon by creating a loop at the top and secure using a Glue Dot®.

So Close to Completion
If you choose you can fasten the ribbon to the wreath using Glue Dots®. This will prevent the wreath from shifting.
Final Touches
Place a single spider on the ribbon as an accent.

And then adhere the spiders and buttons with Glue Dots®. Memory Book Glue Dots are the thinnest- perfect for paper layering!

Here are the steps to take to create this piece. Cover your boards with glossy accents and patterned paper. A Making Memories foam brush and Tm Holtz craft knife were used here to do this. To make the edges even more finished, give them a light sanding with a Making Memories sanding block.

Next gather all types of Halloween-y type embellishments, paint, punches and more. Shown here: Glimmer mist, and crate paper from Tattered Angels. There was a mix of grunge board pieces from Tim Holtz, journaling spots from Little Yellow Bicycle, buttons, stickers and more.

Here you can see how Glue Dots were used for making pinwheel flowers.

This picture shows vintage book paper being used to create a flower. In the center it was filled with Glossy Accents and faux pearls. The glossy dries clear so all you see are the pearls in the end.

Another great way to use Glue Dots is with Sparkly Fluff from Our Craft Lounge. Here a Glue Dots dispenser was used to place a few dots down around the letter. The pumpkin was then sprinkled with Sparkly fluff.

Next up, to make a really fun flower use some Tattered Angels Haunted Shadow glimmer mist with the paper of your choice. Mist it, dry it with a heat gun and then crumpled it up.

Last here are a few photos of how to create embellishments. For the skulls- emboss them with vintage photo distress embossing powders, scratched them up and give them pearls for eyes. Dress up some flat stickers by adding paint, vintage book paper and adding more stickers on top with Pop Up Glue Dots. All the letters of the word “Halloween” got painted in black, mod podged, glittered and then mod podged again to keep that glitter from flaking off. The pleated paper and smaller embellishments were attached using with Craft Glue Dots.

Other Supplies :

dollar store plastic halloween mask

wooden dowel

gesso (Ranger)

crackle paint in a light colour (Ranger Distress “Milled Lavender”)

glimmer mist (Tattered Angels “Tattered Rose”, “Starfish”)

patterned paper (Prima)

lace (Prima)

assorted flowers and pearls (Prima)

key (Tattered Angels)

satin picot ribbon (Offray)

twine (May Arts)

acrylic tiles (Harmonie)

Step-by-Step
(Note – if you are using a mask that is paper maché or other non-plastic type, you can dry with heat gun. Plastic masks will melt or warp).

prime mask with gesso (don’t be tempted to skip this step – the crackle paint won’t work on the bare plastic), let dry

paint with crackle paint, let dry

mist liberally with glimmer mist allowing it to run into all the cracks, let dry

Run a strip of Continuous Line down the length of the dowel. Cut ½” strips of patterned paper and adhere to wooden dowel with Continuous Lines, wrapping the strips around the dowel. Secure end with Mini Glue Dot

Punch decorative edge on 1.5” strips of patterned paper (finished width 1” after punching). Pleat and adhere to back edge of mask, using Glue Lines

Adhere lace to front edge of mask using Glue Lines. Where two strips meet, secure the seam with Mini Glue Dots.

Using crop-o-dile or other strong punch, create two holes in left side of mask, for tying dowel with ribbon. (These will be covered with flowers)

Tie dowel to back of mask. Insert Craft Glue Dots under dowel where it touches mask, to further secure and position it.

Adhere various fancy flowers and key to front of mask using Craft Glue Dots

Peel and stick self-adhesive pearls to front of mask in desired arrangement

To complete this project you’ll need:

small Kraft paper bags
ledger paper
decorative scissors
punched paper shapes, (shown here, a large scallop circle, a small scallop circle, a small circle and a bat paper punch)
Ribbon
rhinestones
Mini Glue Dots®
Pop Up Glue Dots®
stapler

Directions

**make sure that your treat bags are filled with candy first!**

1. Fold a piece of the ledger paper in half.

2. Measure and cut the ledger paper to the same width as the Kraft paper bag.

Use the decorative scissors to cut along the bottom of the ledger paper. (The top of the folded piece of ledger paper will sit on top of the treat bag.)

3. Place the ledger paper topper onto the bag.

4. Cut a small piece of ribbon, and staple to the middle of the ledger paper, so that the bag is now stapled closed.

5. Add a small Glue Dot to the ribbon, and place the large scallop punch on the Glue Dot, add another small Glue Dot and place the small scallop circle on top.

Next, place a 3-D Glue Dot in the center and add the small punched circle. Use one more Small Glue Dot and glue on the bat.

6. Use a self-sticking rhinestone to the center of the bat.

Finish the remaining toppers and have fun passing these cute treat-bags out on Halloween night!!

Supply List

1 Styrofoam 12 inch wreath

6 sheets of 12x12 papers (Papers used were GCD Studios - Paris Nights)

1 ribbon

2 flowers

1 box of Craft Glue Dots®

Instructions:

Cut 1x6 inch strips with all your papers

Use a Glue Dot to hold both ends together - it is important that you do not fold the paper in half.

Adhere the flat part of the papers to the foam wreath with Glue Dots , overlapping 1/4 to 1/2 of the paper loop before it. Do this until you fill your wreath, tucking in extras if you miss a spot.

You can also fold the loops up once they are adhered to the wreath- this makes the wreath look fuller.

After the wreath is covered, add some flowers (or whatever embellishments you want to use) and a ribbon on the back!
